forgotten treasures

me and my mum cleared out our wardrobes the other day, and in hers i found this:

yeah this picture really doesnt do it justice at all.
the jumper is super thin and threaded thickly, and as you can see over the years the thread has been pulled out at places, giving it more of a distressed look. it was originally from karen millen about 20 years ago. it looks perfect tucked into something high waisted, or just with a pair of jeans.

on a weekend i work in a charity shop (its a long story as to why i am, as it isnt like i get payed or anything). i was assigned the job to raid the jewellery box for anything good to bring downstairs. i found this in the box, which i took to being a hair clip. i often wear things in my hair, as without anything i feel like my face is boring haha. ive been looking for something like this for ageees:
hairgrip: 50p charity shop, scarf: £5.00 a vintage shop.

the colours are so bright, it looks so so pretty! trouble is my hair is dark brown, so you can't really see it against my hair :( i'm so tempted to dye my hair red just so it stands out loads :)
the scarf i got years ago from a local vintage shop.

I also got a sweet necklace. the chain on it looks brand new, its such a find:

necklace: £1 charity shop, top: vintage karen millen

isn't it so teeny and pretty. i was so happy when i found this, it even came in a little box! the chain is completely clean aswell :) poifect.

I'd been looking for a cool big necklace for ages when i stumbled across this in new york:

necklace: $12 american eagle

i like the way its rusty looking, so looks slightly worn in already. it goes with most things, and is a really stand out piece. instead of most of my other necklaces which are quite dainty, this ones perfect for gigs and such things as it can dress outfits up. however, it is also appropriate to wear during the day due to its 'rustic' look. i like the little crystally beads and small petal/ feathers, this necklace is definitely a favourite!

let it snow..

last night it snowed so much that school got called off. however, we werent told till about half 8, so i was wide awake by then having been waiting for an hour to hear the news, grrr -.-
i spent my day by first attempting to go back to sleep, and failing miserably :( then when i did get up my brother made me decorate the tree with him, even though it hasn't even reached december yet?! is anybody else feeling that the snow is bringing out the festive spirit?
after that i went sledging with a few friends. this turned out to be a waste of time, as my feet were so cold by the end of it that i couldnt feel them.
in the afternoon i went to a friends and we spent all day in giant babygros watching films and eating food

we watched love actually.
this is and when ben catches up with joanna at the airport is my favorite bit of the movie.

we also played the game of life, the best game ever haha!

who says fashion isn't sensible?

vogue, 1968

with the snow being as thick as it is, this would be suitable. constantly i hear people moaning about fashion not being suitable come winter, but this is living proof that when winter strikes, you don't have to go out of your house looking like an expeditioner to keep warm. although this is a tad excessive to wear down your local high road, you've gotta admit that it does look incredibly warm; kind of like a snuggly caterpillar costume haha. the lady herself -Veruschka- manages to make this, um coat?! look glamourous and desirable. fashion at its warmest.

american history x

we watched this film today in film studies, i was actually crying so much by the end of it. we all agreed that the bad guy (not to ruin it or anything) who turned out good was incredibly hot. and his little brother was sweet. I was expecting it to be a total bore, cos no offense to whoever decided on this, but the title sort of makes it sound lame. my friend had seen it before and kept trying to persuade me that i'd enjoy it, i wasn't convinced.  anyway once id watched it i had to admit that it was actually one of the best films i'd watched in a while, the kind of film where after you just want to think about it- much to the annoyance of the person i was walking home after school with who couldn't get a word out of me the whole way home.

I'm going to see this tomorrow and i am so excited! :D I wonder if it'll live up to american history x? i'm such a big harry potter fan, i don't know why i haven't already seen it. theres really bad snow around where i am, so i'm really hoping public transport isn't called off tomorrow or i'll be so angry. I'm going to see it in audio described as it's the most suitable time, and im a bit worried if that means i'll have to wear headphones and stuff. oh well, at least i'll get to see it :D

five things i want...

1.

A chanel 2.55 handbag. this has been number one on my wishlist for about 2 years, baring in mind I'm only 16 thats pretty impressive. not every 14 year old refers to the number 2.55 as a bag and not part of some mathematical equation. it took me a little while longer to decide on the exact colour and size i'd get, but i finally chose black in the most popular size. some people might find this boring and unadventourous, but seriously do you know how much one of these things cost, im not gonna get one to only use it occasionally cos it goes with nothing- so black it is.

2.

A tiffany bow. I've wanted this for years, I love little delicate necklaces like this, and i hate wearing all black or other unfeminine things, so this would be the perfect thing to 'girlify' my outfits. this is number one on my christmas list.
3.

A cape. i reaaallly want this one, but at the moment it's either out of stock or the site doesn't like my computer. I have an obsession with bows, and anything that adds extra girlishness to things. i love the little fur trim colour, I want it soo bad! I've been looking for a cape for ages, but most of them are a little crap or over my budget. i stumbled upon this one in grazia, i instantly spotted it on the page and suspected it'd be in the hundreds, so was pleasently suprised when i saw it wasn't actually that badly priced! it's on my christmas list this year!

4.

Vivienne westwood wellies. wow i really want a pair of these, they're possibly the cutest things i have ever seen. They probably aren't the most practical- snow, rain and mud could all easily manage to get over the top of these short boots- but this doesnt change my opinion on them one bit. every time i look at them i want them a little bit more.

5.

topshop fur coat. This isn't the exact one, but i cant find a photo of the one i want. its pretty similar to this though. i love the light colour, most coats are navy black or grey, so everyone ends up being in a see of miserable dark colours. but not this coat, this coat stands out with its sandy colour, whilst still managing to look wintery. I've wanted a fur coat for ages, but always end up buying another coat (and later
regretting it.) but now i'm gland i waited, as this is the nicest one i've seen yet.

So they're the top five things that i want right now. There are probably hundreds of things that I want way more than some of the stuff one that list, but those are the 5 that came into my head first. I'm off to tidy my room and see if there's anything else to put on my ebay account. I've recently set up an ebay account and am fixated with putting new stuff on everyday, I'm starting to regret selling half the things already, oops!

strawberry fields forever...

I took this photograph when i was recently in New York with my mum. the photograph is from Strawberry Fields in central park. the park was so beautiful, as due to the time of the year all the leaves had fallen and were circling at the ground. doesnt this picture just make the leaves look sooo crunchy?

this photo always makes me laugh. you never ever see things like this in england, and all over new york i seemed perfectly natural for somebody to be walking 5 dogs at once. i kept thinking i'd have a carrie moment and end up tangled between them all haha. its probably wrong to have a photo of someone i dont know at all, but its such a great picture, it really seems to capture what new yorks about. nobody has time for anything, even to walk their dogs. also you can see in the background the setting up of the New York marathon. we weren't there for that unfortunately.
i'll put more photos on soon if i have the chance. xoxo

tv marathon

recently i've become addicted to tv. on saturday i was at the height of a bad cold so stayed in on the night, i must have actually watched about 4 hours of tv. i started off with x factor, which was soooo good! even though the covers were mainly crap it was worth watching it for the little bit at the beginning of paul mccartney speaking. after that i moved on to my current favourite, i'm a celebrity get me out of here... i can't believe nigels walked, i was so sad when i heard that earlier, its always the nice older guys who walk. so i ended the tv marathon with the kelly osbourne interview. did anyone else actually cry along with kelly, or was it just me? i dont know what it is about piers, but every interview he does i get all snively.
how gorgeous does she look now! i really hope that soon she gets back with her ex-fiancee, when she was describing him on the interview she still looked so in love, they made such a cool couple. anyway im off to get ready to watch i'm a celebrity (minus my favourite celebrity; nigel :/)

love: winter shorts

i have a new found love for shorts, for winter. it sounds so unconventional, but really they are way more practical than dresses and skirts in this kind of weather. the problem with dresses and skirts is that they easily flip up in the wind, and its a nuisance to constantly hold them down. they arent worth bothering with in the winter cos of the wind, so most people just stick with boring boobtubes or trousers. but then along came the winter shorts. they're usually in warm material like suade, velvet or wool and they go perfectly with big chunky winter knits and tights.

winter shorts number 1:
(sorry for the bad quality, i cant seem to keep the camera still.)

these are the only things i bought from the a/w sale this year. yeah so these arent technically in the material i mentioned above, theyre actually denim and are very short. but still, they definately go with leather jackets and chunky knits; all things wintery (or autumny). obviously they'll be a bit unpractical when it starts getting really cold, but they'll be wearable for a good 3 seasons of the year! i was worried that them being black in winter would be a bit dreary, but the super cute tiny daisys make them seem brighter somehow. only £16.50 in the topshop sale, bargain!

winter shorts number 2:

these high waisted shorts are the perfect thing come winter. they look cute paired with jumpers tucked in, and for when the weather gets warmer with thin tees. i love that they have glittery thread spun through them, meaning that you can dress them up easily. i was especially excited when realising that you got the belt with them for free. ive been in need for a new belt for ages, but it always seems a bit of a frivolous expense. the best part is that theyre only £29.99 from river island! they're my new favourite thing to wear.
hope i haven't bored you too much- that is if anybodys actually reading this haha!

how wonderful life is...

when i first saw the john lewis advert i was overcome with excitement. the song, the scenery <3, it was all one big reminder of just how close christmas is! it was so weird cos me and my mum had just been discussing how "your song"was our favourite song by elton john. the first time i'd heard it was on moulin rouge, and i just fell in love with the words and the melody, its possibly one of the cutest songs ever. i hadn't really payed attention to who was singing the song when i heard it, but later when i went on facebook someone had posted that ellie goulding sung it. i love ellie goulding, and I only went to see her the other week. since seeing the advert i have purchased the song and listened to it several (100) times. i don't think i'll ever get bored of it....

i was going to put the video of it on, but i couldn't figure out how to! it sucks being new to this stuff

"holly golightly"

i think this is my favourite picture of all time, my favourite picture from my favourite movie. i get so into breakfast at tiffany's, everytime i watch this bit i swear i shed a few tears haha! surely everyone gets a bit choked up though, especially when she looks up at Fred/Paul, and he just looks totally in love with her- it's so cute! i was watching it on the plane back from new york, it felt so weird having just been there and seen where they'd filmed loads of places. i made sure to go into tiffanys and get the mother to treat me to something as a little momemto- early christmas present ;) breakfast at tiffany's truly is a magical movie, it's like a dream world <3

first ever blog post

hello, i'm not sure how to start my first blog post. i don't want to look back at it later and regret writing stuff, so i'll keep it nice and simple. welcome to fashion avec love. well, i doubt anyones actually reading this, but to anybody that has somehow stumbled across my blog, welcome! i decided to make a blog because for the last year or so i've really been into blogs , i find them a really interesting way of keeping updated with fashion etc. i was always a little bit too scared to write one myself, until now! i just want this blog to be everything i like about other blogs, but more:) i never see blogs which cover fashion, music celebrities and everything else- thats what i want to do. so i hope if anybody out on the cyber world is actually reading this that you keep watching my little blog! by the way, did anyone else find it impossibly hard to start up a blog? its actually taken me all evening to make the title! i hope this didnt bore you too much haha,
